GENESIS
In the beginning………….Moses wrote exactly what God intended him to say. No more; no less. I would venture to say that the four great events of primeval history are the foremost subjects of dissension by the people of the Christian faith.
The first eleven chapters of Genesis is intended as a mere preface, an introduction, a foreword to the greatest book that has ever been written, The Holy Bible.
Every poetic word or phrase is filled with anticipation, joy, mystery, anxiety, love, hate, lust, feast, famine, good and evil that could possibly happen to any human being seeking truth. Moses, the author and divine compiler of this beautiful story defines this thing called God as well as it is humanly possible to do.
The author leaves us with a wide range of speculation about the time and details of how God created and made everything that was made. Moses, more or less, gives us just the right amount of information to realize we are the created and that we can only become aware of certain truths through our Creator’s divine inspiration and generosity.
We must accept, through faith, that our one true God is sovereign over all that exist, whether good or evil and that His will, and His will alone will ultimately prevail. God has the answers; we don’t!
In the first few pages of the Holy Bible, Moses is able to instill within the reader’s mind and heart that our God of love can only be defined through a progression of faith, hope and love. Although the primeval history sometimes seems to be a mixture of conjecture and speculation, Moses is telling us all he knows concerning the creation of the universe, Adam and Eve, man’s fall and the results of sin, the flood and the scattering of the nations. No one knows more. Not even the smartest theologian that has ever drawn a breath!
This manifestation and progression of faith in God becomes clearer as we contemplate thousands of years, generation after generations, page after page, of the Old and New Testaments, concerning God’s love and relationship with humankind.
This progression of faith, hope and love, historically carries us right through the birth, the ministry, the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ when He became an infinite part of a triune God, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit; the past, the present and the future. In essence a new beginning and the salvation of mankind through Jesus Christ.
Upon His ascension He left the Holy Spirit as our comforter and our spiritual future. It is forevermore available, and can summoned on a moments notice. All of God’s children are on a "need to know " basis; that is, if there is anything you really need to know it will be revealed to you through the Holy Spirit. And in these days of false prophets it is becoming necessarily the voice of authority within our Christian faith.
We are simply called to accept God’s gift of salvation; a commitment of faith, hope and love and that gift will set you free for all eternity!
Whether God accomplished all of this within six twenty-four hour days or an evolutionary process taking millions of year; aren’t we missing the ark when we start arguing how long He took to create the things He made?
He may still be in the creating business. One just don’t know about God!
