BEAUTIFUL SIMPLICITY
Beauty is innately simple!
Beauty is a quality, a degree of excellence that somehow pleases the senses in our hearts, our souls, our bodies and our minds. It is real; it is lasting and eternally obtainable. True beauty reflects truth. Always!
In life, with all our human senses, we see, we hear, we feel, we sense and we love. In our search for truth we sometimes see lines that should not be there; we even look for shadows that cloud our vision and secretly hope that somehow the mysteries of life will be magically unveiled. We hear voices that fill our ears with lies; yet we hear those that also tell us the truth. We sometimes feel that we are caught in a guessing game of carnal, sexual, sensuous, and spiritual behavior. We have a sense of rightness, of hope, of faith and way down deep inside our very being we have this thing called love.
God made man in his own image. He intended for man to enjoy the good things he had made. Using the free will God had given him, man chose to disobey his Creator. Since that time all our senses have been distorted and they will continue to be distorted until we decide to obey our Creator now and forevermore.
After a lifetime of study I am amazed at the utter beauty and simplicity of this restoration, this redemption - God’s plan for the salvation of mankind.
We must simply believe in Jesus Christ! And when we do believe, this simple beauty, this quality and degree of excellence, will gradually reform our senses and will eventually make us free and whole again. Oh, how beautiful heaven must be!
This leaves us with the question; who is this man, Jesus of Nazareth? Outside his birth and a few comments of his early childhood we are totally ignorant of the life of Jesus until he was baptized in the River Jordan and immediately began to preach. Historically speaking we know more about Saul of Tarsus than we do of this man Jesus. We know that Jesus was a highly educated person. We know why, but we have no idea of how or when. We wonder that the only example we have that Jesus wrote anything was when it was trampled in the dust by a multitude of worshipers. I would venture to say that there have been literally thousands and possibly millions of sermons, books and lectures, all of them mere speculations concerning the historical life of this man called Jesus; and all to no avail.
We only know those things that are essential to God’s plan of salvation. We seem to be looking for absolute proof when there is none.
God works in strange and mysterious ways. Again, let us ponder the simplicity and beauty of God’s plan. The absence and silence on a historical Jesus is merely part of this simplification of God’s plan. To me it was the will of God that disciples, apostles and other divinely inspired writers tell us this wonderful story of what we refer to as the word of God, the Holy Bible. God is patient within this joint venture with mankind; it took hundreds of years to canonize the ancient scriptures, to glorify and exalt the ministry of Jesus Christ. Let us be mindful that Christianity is solely a matter of belief, faith, hope and love. It is an on going process in which God expects each new generation to use the technical advances and tools to enhance and expand His kingdom simply and with beauty.
Within my lifetime one man, Billy Graham, is the dynamic example as a modern day instrument of the Christian faith. His sermons have convinced more people to accept Gods plan for salvation, through Jesus Christ, than anyone I know. His messages and ministry of redemption were always filled with a special and positive brand of beautiful simplicity.
John: 14-6. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
